SEVENTEEN

The vivid, gleaming sun provided the picture-perfect backdrop to align with plans filled with malicious intent. Austin sucked in the pungent odor of smog-filled air as he stood outside the luxury rental that he’d secured specially for this trip. Lloyd had been blowing up his phone ever since he’d landed at Hartsfield-Jackson two hours ago, but he had been sending call after call to voicemail. One thing that his cousin didn’t yet understand, though he would before long, was that Austin was a muthafuckin’ boss nigga and that meant there wasn’t a nigga breathing who could rush him when it came to what he had in mind to do.

Right now he wanted to eat and he had a taste for some Gladys Knight Chicken and Waffles. As he stared at the entrance of the building, he had a feeling that he was being watched but didn’t pay it any attention. He was dressed like money and had just stepped out of a Maybach; everybody had their eyes on a nigga.

“WELL, IF IT AIN’T MUTHAFUCKIN’ AUSTIN!”

Cutting his eyes towards the voice, Austin stared from over the top of his exclusive, custom-made Ray-Ban shades at the man walking towards him with his fist outstretched to dap him up.

“What it do, nigga? You good?” Austin asked with a smirk on his face.

Standing in front of him was O.G. Banks, one of Lloyd’s crew members. He wasn’t high up on the totem pole, but he always seemed to know what was going on and was happy to run his mouth about it. Atlanta was just about as much of Austin’s city as it was Lloyd’s. Although Lloyd and Kenyon ran it, everybody who was anybody in the trapping game knew Austin.

His reputation stretched out all across the south because of how he’d single-handedly been able to put every major city in Texas on lock. Dallas was where he laid his head at night, but the entire state bowed to him. The stories of how he operated with no mercy sent a chill down anybody’s spine. He had the most creative and terrifying ways of encouraging niggas to follow his lead, and those who crossed him were used as examples of how ruthless and crazy he was. He reigned in Dallas under the law of terror which provided him the utmost respect from even the most fearless nigga on the streets. Even his enemies had to respect his gangsta. He was that nigga.

O.G. shook his head sadly, making his long dreadlocks shake from left to right as he prepared to speak. He looked bad as hell; his clothes were wrinkled and his jeans had a stain in them. His sneakers were dirty and covered with grime. Even though he was nothing but a low level corner boy, he usually stayed on top of his shit when it came to his appearance.

“Hell naw, ain’t shit good right now, my nigga. Niggas ain’t eatin’ because some New York nigga been hittin’ up our spots, stealin’ tha dope and shit.
